Our client, a global law firm with a unique culture and one of the highest per-partner profit averages in the Am Law 100, is seeking a Strategic Consultant to join their firm. This person will be responsible for handling daily support of eDiscovery functions including data processing, hosting, productions, and project management. Strong experience using RelOne, strong communication skills and a willingness to participate at the highest level, providing insights and advice on eDiscovery matters, will be required. Candidates should be located near an office in one of the following locations Atlanta, Boston, Miami, New York, Wilmington or Washington, D.C.
RoleThe Strategic Consultant is part of the Global Legal Technology Advisory Services (“LTAS”) department. This role will work closely with the LTAS Managers, Technical Lead, Technical Consultants, and other Strategic Consultants, instructing teams and clients as needed.
The primary responsibility of the Strategic Consultant is to oversee the delivery of eDiscovery services on matters and ensure the efficient execution of tasks, including, but not limited to, data transmission, processing, review support, and document production.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Strategic Consultant role involves liaising between case teams and Technical Consultants, monitoring timelines, maintaining quality, and offering strategic guidance. Working under the direction of Managers and in collaboration with Technical Consultants, they track costs against estimates, verify quality control processes, and identify and address client needs by implementing recommended legal technology solutions for key stakeholders.
Day to day, this role is responsible for:- Serving as the primary point of contact with the case team and providing strategic guidance
- Ensuring delivery of client work in accordance with communicated timelines and cost estimates
- Maintaining up-to-date records for all collections, media intake, and production, including matter-related documentation and time entries
- Collaborating with Director(s) or Manager(s) to ensure all data collections are accurately documented and communicated to Technical Specialists
- Collaborating with other team members to develop and implement work plans for document production, quality control, and analytics
- Advising on data processing, execution of search term reports, technical aspects of supporting document review, and the end user experience in Relativity
- Providing strategic guidance in handling data including consulting on search terms and the application of other filtering workflows
- Guiding the usage of dashboards, analytics, and/or generative AI solutions to enhance data interpretation and decision-making
- Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and overall quality of data processing and document productions to ensure consistency with specifications and technical requirements
- Meets case team and matter requirements with the highest possible quality and accuracy by verifying and communicating routinely with the case teams
- Collaborating with Technical Specialists to ensure incoming and outgoing productions comply with ESI orders
- Drives client satisfaction through maintaining a responsive service, frequent and effective reporting, efficient coordination of resources, accurate and timely deliverables, and a proactive, enterprising approach to problem-solving
- Identifies improvement opportunities on internal processes and explores ongoing educational opportunities
Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities
Essential- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to integrate information from disparate sources and draw well-reasoned conclusions
- Proficiency administering RelativityOne, including advising on the use of analytics
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and an ability to explain complex, technical information to non-technical audiences
- A thorough understanding of the litigation lifecycle and its relationship to the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
- Experience preparing document productions in accordance with specifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to quality control (QC) check the work of colleagues
- Strong documentation and communication skills including effective collaboration with instructing teams, service providers, and ediscovery team
- Ability to quality check and manipulate load files, e.g., DAT/OPT files, as necessary to load data into document review platforms
- Strong organizational skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines
- Experience as a legal technologist, paralegal, or legal review attorney utilizing document review platforms
Desirable- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Access
- Experience advising on the use of AI for document review or completion of prompt engineering training
- Experience collaborating with document review managers to provide technical support to review teams
- Relevant industry certifications (i.e., PMP, CSM, RCA, RDMS, EnCEP, CIPP, etc.)
- Experience at a peer law firm, consultancy, or service provider
Expected salary for this role is up to $145,000 commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
