Legal Secretary Staff Counsel Location Fort Lauderdale, FL : For more than 170 years, The Hanover has been committed to delivering on our promises and being there when it matters the most. This is a full time/non-exempt role.
Position Overview: Assists attorneys and other legal personnel with administrative and clerical work. Responsibilities Essential Functions: - Prepares final legal papers and correspondence of legal nature such as summonses, complaints, motions and subpoenas from draft or dictated text.
- Manages calendar and assists in meeting deadlines.
- Coordinates and schedules meetings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence and reading and routing incoming mail.
- Files correspondence and legal documents in court and office filing systems
- Prepares basic pleadings and forms
- Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
Essential Skills and Experience: - High School Graduate
- Minimum of 2-4 years civil litigation experience
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
- Works well with others and establishes sound working relationships
- Keyboard and typing skills
Desired skills and experience: - Strong organizational skills
- Flexibility and ability to work within a team environment
Physical demands & work environment: - Ability to use a company-provided laptop computer and other standard office equipment
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
