Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Assistant Director of Event Operations and Summer Programs

Anticipated Start Date: May 2024

We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 700 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. The event services and summer programs office staff are event professionals who are committed to working with the Hampshire community, external organizations, and private individuals to plan events and programs on the campus of Hampshire College. Our staff provides organizational and logistical services that are timely, professional, flexible, and customer-driven. As part of the event services and summer programs team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The event services and summer programs office at Hampshire College is looking for a qualified event assistant to join us. Our event services department works with both internal and external clients to provide exceptional events from conception to execution. We are seeking an event assistant who can participate in various stages of event planning as well as handle our everyday office needs. This intern must have a vehicle and be available from May 2024 through the end of December 2024.

As a member of event services and summer programs, this position is essential to student, employee and community service and experience. The incumbent must feel comfortable working in an often fast-paced organizational framework with shifting and evolving responsibilities. This position collaborates with other event services and summer programs staff, and a variety of other college offices to meet the department goals, and further the mission of the department and the College. This position participates as a committed member of the event services and summer programs team in college and division committee work, projects, meetings, events, and overall community development. Availability to work nights and weekends is required.

Preferred:

  • Hospitality experience is preferred but not mandatory.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  • No job-related experience required
